The St. Joseph elementary program has been operating since 1894 when the founding immigrant families set quality education of their children in a faith-filled environment as their highest priority.  Since that time the elementary program has provided a solid foundation of academics that will well prepare students for success in later school years.  This faith-filled education instills in students self-discipline, motivation and strong work ethics.

The basic curriculum includes math, language arts (including phonics), science, social studies and religion.  Along with religious instruction and sacramental preparations, students attend Mass twice weekly as well as celebrate Holy Days of Obligation and special feast days with student led Masses.

Specialty classes include Spanish, music, physical education, library, art, enrichment and computer application.  The school-wide enrichment program provides above grade level learning opportunities in small groups.  It promotes creative and critical thinking skills and allows students to explore individual interests through research.   Enrichment Clubs based on student’s interests meet weekly, and several enrichment events are scheduled through the year.  Our Artists of the Ages art program features a specific master artist each six-week period.

Students may also participate in many other activities including Safety Patrol, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Christian Service Club and Student Council.  Extracurricular activities include competitions in Destination Imagination (creative problem solving through team work) and PSIA (Private School Interscholastic Association) academic competitions.  The teams have been extremely successful, taking many top honors.

Meal and drink tickets may be purchased in the office for those wishing daily lunch service provided by the cafeteria and/or a drink at snack time.  Elementary students wear a basic required uniform.  Our parents have set up a voluntary “Uniform Exchange” room in our school.

After School Care is available until 6:00 p.m. each school day.  Summer Care is available from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Both After School Care and Summer Care require a separate registration and are available at an additional fee.

St. Joseph Catholic School is accredited by the TCCED (Texas Catholic Conference Education Department) and the TEA (Texas Education Agency).   With a variety of program offerings and our focus on a well-rounded education, we believe that St. Joseph’s elementary program may be the perfect fit for your child.
